CR Park's Ultimate Bengali Street Food Trail

CR Park is the Bengali locality of Delhi and is flooded with a variety of street food stalls. From phuchka to misti doi, every can be found in this place. This listicle provides places that are a must-visit for street food lovers.

*Some restaurants listed in this trail serve non-vegetarian food, but have been added because they have good vegetarian options on their menu as well.

  • Raju Chaat Corner

    This is the best place to start the gastronomic journey. West Bengal’s phuchka has been brought down to CR’s Park’s Raju Chaat Corner. For the past 20 years, he has been serving fried wheat phuchkas filled with a spicy mixture of potato, jeera, coriander, black pepper, green chillies, and black chana. The place also serves the Bengali variant of aloo chaat known as aloo kabli. Chaat lovers can also try out churmur, which is a chaat between phuchka and aloo kabli.
  • Ghughnee Wala

    This is another famous dish from West Bengal. Shyamal Barua’s stall has been in existence since 2003 and he says that his mother is behind the finger-licking ghughni. The signboard at the stall advertises both momo and ghughni, but people get attracted to the stall for the latter. The stall serves both veg and non-veg ghughni.
  • Kolkata Hot Kathi Roll

    Kati rolls which are original in Bengal in Nizam’s have acquired a place in Delhi’s CR Park. Kolkata Kathi Roll serves Bengali-style kati rolls wrapped in parathas. The word kati means skewer in Bengali and was applied to kababs and these kababs are then wrapped in parathas. Apart from mutton, chicken, and paneer rolls, the place also serves prawn cutlets, veg chops, Mughlai parathas, and a host of Chinese dishes.
  • Roll N Roast

    This place is located exactly opposite to Kolkata Kathi Roll stall and provides strong competition. The place is famous for Bengali-style street Chinese food. The stall is also known for serving chops and kobiraji cutlets. The Chinese chaat is quite famous and comes with a variety of toppings and a choice of either noodles or rice.
  • Dadu Cutlet Shop

    This is one of the most famous street food stalls in CR Park. The stall has been in existence since the British Raj. They sell authentic cutlets that have a delicious taste. The shop serves Kolkata street food namely cutlets, chops, egg-devils, and Mughlai parathas.  This place attracts customers for its famous bhetki fish fry, egg devil chop, and others.
  • Kolkata Biriyani House

    This place is perfect for all Kolkata-style biriyani lovers. It serves delicious biriyani and kababs. Kolkata-style biriyani is different from those found in Delhi. It is less spicy and is cooked with potato and meat. The place provides affordable biriyani. Besides biriyani, it also serves chicken bharta, chicken rezala, and others.
  • Kamala Sweet Shop

    This famous sweet shop is owned by Prabir Kumar Mukherji who has been in business for the last 30 years. The place is known for quintessential misti doi, and sandesh. The conch and fish shaped sandesh are must try. Other varieties include chum chum, dudh pulisita bhog, chandrapuli, rosogolla, bundi laddoo, and lobongo lotika. Chena poda which is a famous dessert of Orissa is also found here. Besides breakfast, khasta kachori, matar kachori, and radhaballabhi are a must-try.
