Unarguably Akshay Kumar stands on the top in the list of fittest actors of Bollywood. Apart from being a black belt in Taekwondo he is also a martial art expert and the credit for his fitness to his strict routine and balanced diet. A day in the life of Mr. Khiladi starts as early as 5.30 in the morning. His day ends early too and no partying. After an early dinner at around 7 PM, he’s in bed by 9 PM and he makes sure to finish his last meal by 7:30 PM. He brings home-cooked meals to the film sets and often even packs some extra for his co-stars.
Earlier he had no particular diet routine and used to eat everything but at the right time. But the actor turned vegan in January, 2020. Since then, his favourite meals are:
Chia Pudding with Berries
Akshay carries a jar of chia pudding and berries on a daily basis to fight early morning hunger pangs. Chia seeds are highly nutritious and loaded with antioxidants. Just like chia, berries also contain antioxidants which help to fight inflammation and several studies have also confirmed that the antioxidants in berries may help reduce oxidative stress.
Avocado On Toast
This combination is not just mouth-watering but nutritious too. Avocado offers monounsaturated fats and is an excellent source of fibre. When paired with whole grain bread, the fibre counts increase even more. This pair plays an important role in gut health and can promote healthy digestion.
Fruit smoothies
As a vegan, Akshay loves relishing either plant-based milk smoothies or fresh fruit smoothies that are topped with nuts and berries. If on a weight loss program, smoothies can replace a meal and provide essential nutrients. Drinking smoothies for breakfast can provide a source of energy and protein.
Moong Dal Chilla
Made with soaked moong lentil, green chilli, salt, fresh coriander leaves and black pepper, this healthy dish is also a part of Akshay’s daily diet, which he relishes with green chutney. Moong Dal is rich in iron and this helps in the production of red blood cells. A good amount of red blood cells is crucial to prevent anemia and improve the overall blood circulation in the body.
Green Thai Tofu Curry and Rice
Thai curry and rice is made with the best of tender tofu is served to Akshay as a part of his regular daily diet. Tofu is a food made from dried soybeans that are soaked in water, crushed, and boiled. It contains several anti-inflammatories and antioxidants. Tofu is also a good source of 'complete' protein – meaning that it has a well-balanced amino acid profile.
Vegan Pasta
For Akshay, his pasta has to be vegan and the POD team makes sure that they serve him the best of flavours. Made in tofu spinach sauce, which is rich in calcium and oxalic acid. Tofu can be a good substitute for protein for vegetarians. This variation of pasta surely sounds divine to us.
Grilled Vegetables
We all know the magic of green vegetables and when they are sautéed in olive oil, they become super delicious. And this super delicious platter is relished by Akshay on a daily basis in the evening hours as his last meal of the day.
Almond and Blueberry Cookies
Akshay loves these nutritious and crunchy cookies which have zero fat content. These crispy cookies are heaven for vegans. Almond cookies are easily available in the market and are rich in magnesium and vitamin E. Blueberry cookies are packed with blueberries, soft on the inside but crispy on the edges, they melt-in-your mouth, and they are deliciously sweet from all the white chocolate.
This 54-year-old actor has inspired a lot of people to live a healthy life by sharing his eating habits. He also advises people to avoid alcohol and caffeine products as it weakens the immune system which can make them sick.
