In order to restore the energy lost during a whole day of fasting, Iftar preparation should include making quick and nutritious meals. Homemade nut butter is one of the easiest yet healthiest additions to your Iftar meal. It can be used as a fruit dip, spread on toast, or added to smoothies for flavour boost.

Due to its versatility and nutritional advantages, nut butter has gained huge popularity in recent years. It is high in vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and proteins, which prolongs feelings of fullness, increases energy, and promotes heart health. Commercial nut butters are easily available, but they often have added sugars, oils, and preservatives that can be avoided with simple homemade preparation.

Many people believe that preparing nut butter requires specialised tools like powerful blenders or food processors, but with the correct attachments, a good hand blender can easily turn nuts into velvety spreads with little effort. With Usha's hand blender, it only takes a few minutes to make smooth and creamy nut butters with the right consistency.

Almond Butter

Almond butter is one of the most healthy and nutritious options for iftar spread and is rich in heart-healthy fats, vitamin E, and magnesium. To make this butter begin by roasting raw almonds in the oven for ten minutes to improve their flavour. After that, cool them and transfer them to a deep bowl. Blend them on high speed using Usha's hand blender. Once you get a coarse powder, blend for another 10 to 15 minutes until the oils are released and the mixture takes on a smooth, creamy consistency. If you want, you can add a pinch of salt or drizzle honey for extra flavour.

Peanut Butter

To prepare this butter take roasted peanuts, either unsalted or lightly salted. Using Usha's hand blender, churn the peanuts until the appropriate consistency is achieved. For crunchy butter, blend until smooth, but leave some peanut chunks. If you want a thinner thickness, you can add a little oil. Also, you can use honey or maple syrup to sweeten it as per your taste. It can be used to spread whole wheat bread or for dipping snacks.

Cashew Butter

The mild sweet taste and creamy texture of cashew butter make it perfect for spreading or blending into smoothies. For making this nut butter take raw cashew nuts and roast them in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly brown. Transfer them to a deep bowl and allow them to cool slightly. Using Usha's hand blender, blend the roasted nuts on high speed until they are smooth and creamy, which could take five to ten minutes. For added flavour, add coconut oil, a pinch of salt or vanilla extract.

Hazelnut Butter

It goes very well with chocolate, so it's a great addition to pastries, paired with fruits, or just spread on toast. To make hazelnut butter first, roast some hazelnuts for 10 to 12 minutes until they are aromatic. After that, let them cool a little, then blend them in a mixing bowl with the blender. Occasionally, you may need to scrape down the edges as you blend until the mixture gets the right consistency. If you want a chocolatey flavour, add cocoa powder or vanilla essence for more flavour.

Pecan Butter

Pecans are a great nutritious option for iftar spread because they are high in heart-healthy fats and antioxidants. Start by roasting raw pecans for 7 to 10 minutes to make this nut butter. After the pecans have cooled a little, put them in a bowl and use the blender to blend them until they form a creamy paste. For a flavour boost, you can add salt, maple syrup, or a pinch of cinnamon. This nut butter can be used for spreading on toast, drizzling over pancakes, or incorporating into baked goods.
