Wine glasses look classy and elegant when presented in front of guests. We love sipping on wine in wine glasses. However, they are often prone to stubborn stains when not cleaned properly. No matter how much we try, these stains do not wash away when using normal dishwashing detergent and water.
Wine glasses are fragile and delicate. If these glasses are not cleaned properly, they will develop stubborn stains. Besides, the glass may contain leftover fingerprints and stains, which, when served to the guests, might look bad. Wine glasses are made of crystal, and they need proper care for cleaning. If your wine glasses have stains from the wine itself, there are a few methods you can try to remove them and restore the glass to its original clarity. If you’re one who regularly uses wine glasses and faces the problem of stains, then we have multiple solutions for you.
Take a look at some of them:
- Soak Them In Warm Water
One of the easiest and simplest methods to remove stains from a wine glass is to soak it in warm water. In a vessel, add warm water and a few drops of dishwashing soap. Soak the glasses for 15–20 minutes. Scrub the glass with a soft sponge and rinse it with warm water.
- Make Vinegar Solution
The acidic nature of vinegar helps to deposit stains, thus acting as a good cleanser. Create a solution by mixing equal parts of vinegar and warm water. Dip a sponge in the solution and gently scrub the stains on the glass. Once finished, dry them immediately to avoid water stains.
- Baking Soda And Water Paste
Baking soda is an excellent cleaning agent because it is alkaline in nature. It helps dissolve the dirt in the water easily. To make this solution, mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with a little bit of water to create a paste. Apply the paste to the stained areas of the wine glasses and gently scrub with a sponge. Rinse and dry them.
- Use Lemon Peels
Often, we throw away the lemon peels after we squeeze the juice out of the lemons. Instead, use the lemon peels to clean the wine glasses. The citric acid present in them helps clean up the unwanted stains. Take the lemon peels and rub them over the stained areas of the glass. After 15–20 minutes, rinse them with warm water. Note that these will not make the glasses shine so well but will remove the odour from the glass.
- Polish The Glass
After washing the glasses, make sure to dry them with a microfiber cloth or a lint-free towel. This ensures that the glass is well polished and has a shiny appearance. Avoid using harsh abrasive materials, as they can scratch the glass.
