How To Make Steamed Chicken Cabbage Parcels?

  1. To prepare the wrappers first, blanch the cabbage leaves in hot boiling water until they begin to wilt; it should not take more than 30 seconds. Drain it and set it aside.
  2. Peel off the narrow strips of carrots. Also, blanch them for a few seconds and then drain them. (carrots are purely for an aesthetic colourful tie up on the cabbage rolls).
  3. Take a saucepan, heat some sesame oil. Add finely chopped garlic, chicken, onion, mushrooms and saute them. Again stir and saute for seconds or a minute. Add minced chicken and give a good stir.
  4. Now add the sauces, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, white pepper and seasoned it with salt.
  5. Extract the excess water, and cook the minced chicken for 70%, which means 15-20 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, on another stove, let’s prepare the gravy/ sauce. Heat a pan with some sesame oil. Add light soya sauce, honey, and cornstarch water. Stir it for a minute. Convert it into a thick slurry. Once it is done, sprinkle some sesame seeds and give a good stir.
  7. Now it’s time to assemble the stuffing into cabbage covers.
  8. Take one blanched leaf, place the stuffing in a centre. Fold the warp into a cylindrical shape. And tie the roll with a carrot strip.
  9. Repeat the process for the rest of the cabbage parcels.
  10. Heat a steamer. Place all the cabbage chicken parcels and steam them for 5-7 minutes on medium flame.
  11. Garnish with chopped green onions.

Your chicken cabbage parcels are ready. Enjoy this new version of dim sums.
