Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is currently in Manipur on a two-day visit. In a delightful display of unity and empathy, the esteemed Congress leader shared lunch with children at a relief camp set up at a school in Manipur’s Churachandpur on Thursday. In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi praised the hospitable nature of Manipur's diverse population. Before seeing the kids, Rahul Gandhi spoke with adults who had been displaced by the ethnic violence.
He went on to say that it was sad that the government had not given him permission to visit the regions where he was going to meet brothers and sisters from Manipur in order to listen to the problems that they were having. He stated that peace and healing were top priorities for the state of Manipur.
However, Rahul Gandhi was compelled to make an unscheduled halt at Bishnupur, a locality situated approximately 20 kilometres away from Imphal. The unexpected delay occurred as local law enforcement authorities took the precautionary measure of halting his convoy, citing concerns of potential attacks. In a move that has raised eyebrows, the individual in question recently availed themselves of a state government-provided helicopter to go on a visit to the town of Churachandpur.
Prior to this, the congress leader engaged in a heartfelt conversation with gig workers and delivery partners from renowned platforms such as Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, and more, all within the Bengaluru's iconic Airlines Hotel. Indulging in the comforting warmth of a steaming cup of coffee and savouring the tantalising flavours of a masala dosa, their conversation delved into the intricate tapestry of delivery workers' lives. They explored the harsh realities of unstable employment and the relentless surge in prices of essential commodities. He also attentively listened to the reasons behind these young individuals embracing gig jobs, and delved into the details of their working conditions.
