Lemon slices and mint leaves for garnishing

Basil seeds ( optional )

Directions for making jaggery lemonade

  • Dip jaggery in water for an hour. ( Depending on the size and hardness of the jaggery pieces, soaking time varies from 20 minutes to 2 hours ).
  • Once the jaggery has dissolved, strain the liquid through a fine strainer to remove contaminants.
  • Now soak the basil in a cup of water for 5 minutes. If you keep them in water for too long, they become sticky and gelatinous, which doesn't go well with the jaggery water.
  • Mix basil seeds, ginger powder, black salt and lemon juice in a pitcher with mixed water. If necessary, adjust the amount of water and lemon.
