Families gather on Iftar during Ramadan to break their fast with delicious and nourishing meals. Everyone looks forward to savouring a range of flavours and textures that make the dinner unforgettable after a long day of abstaining from drinking and eating. Cooking for Iftar requires lots of effort, especially when several people are coming to your home.
If you have Usha's OTG (Oven Toaster Griller) OTG, the task becomes easier. It is a versatile kitchen appliance for many homes during Ramadan because it can be used for baking, grilling, toasting and preparing various Iftar dishes. This appliance also helps to prepare a healthier version of deep-fried foods by using less oil. From savoury snacks, and hearty meals to delicious desserts all of these you can prepare using it.
Baked Keema Samosas
Keema samosa is a favourite Iftar snack that can be made healthier without compromising flavours. To prepare it, make the filling by mixing minced meat (either chicken or mutton), onions, and ginger-garlic paste with spices like cumin and garam masala. Cook the mixture until the flavours combine and the meat is tender. Next, prepare your dough or use premade samosa sheets. Add the keema mixture to each sheet, fold them into triangles, and seal the edges. Preheat your oven, place the samosas on a baking dish and lightly spray them with oil. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are light brown and crispy. Serve them hot with tamarind sauce or mint chutney.
Chicken Seekh Kebabs
It is a delicious choice for Iftar that's simple to make in your Usha's OTG and is traditionally cooked with minced meat combined with spices and herbs. To prepare this dish, start the marinating process by combining yoghurt, ginger-garlic paste, chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves, cumin, and garam masala with the minced meat. Let the mixture sit for at least half an hour. After marinating, shape the mixture onto skewers. Preheat your OTG and place the skewers on the grilling rack. Grill them and rotate frequently until kebabs are cooked through for about 15-20 minutes. Serve the soft kebabs with onion rings and lemon wedges.

It is a high-protein vegetarian appetiser made from ground chickpeas combined with herbs like cilantro and parsley and spices like coriander and cumin. To make it in a food processor, combine soaked chickpeas (or canned), garlic, onion, herbs, flour, and spices until a coarse mixture is formed. Then form the mixture into little patties or balls and arrange them on a parchment paper-lined baking pan. Set your Usha's OTG and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the outside is crispy and lightly brown. Pair these tasty falafels with fresh salad and tahini sauce or yoghurt dip.

Sheer Khurma
Without a sweet dish, no Iftar party is complete, and Sheer Khurma is a perfect choice. It is a traditional creamy vermicelli pudding which is prepared with dates, milk, nuts and spices. For making this sweet treat, first toast vermicelli in ghee until light brown. Then in another saucepan boil milk, and add chopped dates, cardamom powder, and sugar to taste. Add the roasted vermicelli and boil for a few minutes until everything is properly blended after the milk has slightly thickened. Transfer the mixture to an oven dish, sprinkle chopped nuts like pistachios and almonds on top, and then bake it in your preheated OTG for ten minutes.
