Enjoy These 5 Easy-to-pack Snacks On Your Next Road Trip

Whether you are going on a mini vacay or have to go on a long, long way, food is an essential in either case. I love how our Indian mothers start packing pooris and aloo ki sabzi along with achaar for even a small trip down the road. And then we fret over how oily and messy everything gets on the way, but we are hungry so we eat it anyway.

This made us realise that travel light and pack light isn’t just applicable to clothes. You got to eat light too. Here are 5 easy-to-pack snacks that you can conveniently munch while driving on the road.

  • Crispy Roasted Chickpeas

Bake the chickpeas in a preheated oven. Prepare an oil mixture with ground cumin, lemon juice, lemon zest, chilli powder and salt. Once the chickpeas are crunchy, pour the mix over them and pack them in an airtight container.

  • Apricot Popcorn Balls

Don’t just pack a regular popcorn pack. Go creative and try these apricot popcorn balls. Mix brown sugar, butter and corn syrup over medium heat till they turn dark. Pop your popcorns and take them out in a bowl. Take the sugary mixture and pour over the popcorns. Mix this well. And then with clean, cold hands, roll some popcorn balls. Refrigerate for some time to let them set.

  • Quick Banana Muffins

These muffins are the quickest to make and definitely a crowd pleaser. Mash bananas with oil and vanilla extract in one bowl. Mix sugar, all-purpose flour, baking soda in another. Combine the two to make them moist. Fill up your muffin molds and bake them.

  • Cheddar Crackers

No road trip is complete without some crunchy chips and crackers to munch on. For these cheddar crackers, you would need some chopped pecans, cream and butter mixture and flour, garlic powder and cayenne pepper mix. Combine these three and shape them into logs. Wrap and freeze. Then after some time, take out the log, slice inti small, round cracker shapes and bake.

Now you don’t have to worry about your mid-trip munchies anymore!
