Mimosa! The mention is enough to attract champagne lovers anywhere. Isn’t that true? A cocktail composed of champagne and chilled citrus juice, usually orange juice, Mimosa is served in a tall champagne flute at brunch, weddings or as part of business occasions at various places. You’d hardly find a brunch menu at restaurants without Mimosa featuring on it.

But did you know where Mimosa originated? The simple cocktail is said to have different stories of its origin. While one account claims that a bartender in 1925 at the Ritz Hotel in Paris created the mimosa, another account says film director Alfred Hitchcock invented the beloved drink in San Francisco in the 1940s. The Oxford Companion to American Food and Drink claims that Hitchcock was in fact the one to popularise the Mimosa as a brunch drink in the country.

Well, no matter what the right account might be, Mimosa has definitely taken over our heart as the staple brunch cocktail.
