In the morning, most of us are in a hurry. Either we getting ready for school or college or prepping for the day’s presentations at office. While the weekends are days when you can sit back and relax to enjoy a lavish breakfast in bed, that’s far away dream on the work days. With so much on our minds and our to-do lists piling up tasks day after day, one thing that often skips our mind is our morning meal. Or rather, we consciously tend to neglect it in the name of lack of time. To kick start your mornings the right way, having something more than just your daily dose of caffeine seems kind of important. But then again, who has the time?
Just like tasks keep adding up week after week, food keeps getting stacked up each day in your refrigerator too. Then finally, one day when you’ve got no space to stuff more, you begin to discard and throw away the food. We’ve got a great idea which will solve twin-purposes. You can have your breakfast without much hassle and there won’t be food piling up in your fridge too. Simply resort to leftovers for breakfast. Don’t worry, you won’t have to eat last night’s rice as is because we’ve got some great ideas to give them a delicious makeover.
Here are some ways to use up the leftovers for a quick breakfast.
1. Roti Wrap
Got some chapattis from last night’s dinner in the casserole? Don’t fret, you don’t have to throw them away. Instead of making a bread sandwich, make a roti wrap. All you have to toss the roti on a pan so that it turns soft. Slather it with some cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, onions and sauce. Fold it into a wrap and grill it in your grill maker. This is filling and a very handy thing to eat on the go too.
2. Khichdi Pakoras
Khichdi is a comfort meal in most parts of North India. It is simple and easy to make and serves as a wholesome meal too. Now if you have some of that one pot dish in your fridge, take it out because we are making pakoras for breakfast. No, it won’t take that long because your khichdi is already filled with vegetables and rice. Make small balls and dip into the gram batter. Fry in hot oil and enjoy your crispy khichdi pakoras with some chutney.
3. Idli Manchurian
Indulged in soft and fresh idlis yesterday for lunch but ended up making more than needed? It is a possibility that you are running low on sambhar and coconut chutney so you might just want to throw the idlis away. You better not do that because you haven’t tried the idli manchurian yet. Oh yes, dice the idlis into smaller pieces and dunk them in a pot with some caramelized onions, chilli sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper, red chilli powder and some other spices. Toss them in some oil till they turn crispy. Your manchurian idli is ready!
4. Bread Poha
Breadcrumbs, Breadcrumbs everywhere, but don’t know what to do. We feel you that’s why we say make bread poha. Don’t let those crumbs keep sitting in one corner and getting hard, replace your chivda with the leftover bread and spice them up with kadhi patta, onions and all the other spices.
