Bread Poha: How To Make This Morning Meal In Less than 15 minutes

Love poha in your morning meal? Move over the regular one with this unique, quick and easy bread poha next time. Poha is traditionally flattened rice mixed with spices and herbs including onion, haldi and spices. This easily digestible form of raw rice is very popular across many Indian states such as Gujarat, Tamil Nadu etc. There are numerous ways of preparing poha but what makes it all the more interesting is that it can be prepared instantly whenever you’re short on time, and in many unique ways. Bread poha is an effortless Indian breakfast that is made using leftover bread slices.It is a much-loved snack that tastes best when served with hot tea or coffee. Ingredients-  

  1. 8-10 bread slice
  2. 1 small potato
  3. 1 onion
  4. Green chilli
  5. Coriander leaves
  6. Mustard seeds
  7. Kadi patta
  8. ½ Turmeric powder
  9. Salt
  10. ¼ teaspoon sugar
  11. Nimbu
  12. 3 tablespoon oil

Method

  1. Crush the bread slices into small pieces in a bowl and then keep aside.
  2. Now heat a pan in the oil, let the oil get heated for a bit then add mustard seeds and tiny pieces of potatoes.
  3. Once the potatoes soften or turn brown, add onion, chopped green chillies, coriander and curry leaves.
  4. In the same pan, add turmeric and finally the bread slices.
  5. Stir the mixture together, make sure to add some sugar and sprinkle water on them.
  6. Cover the pan for about 5 mins. After some time, remove the lid and stir the bread poha again.
  7. Squeeze lemon in it and garnish with any namkeen, fresh spring onion and coriander leaves.
  8. Bread poha is ready to serve hot.
