The batter takes 8-10 hrs to be fermented and people often leave them overnight for the entire process to take place. But if you are craving for a yummy idli and don’t want to wait for a whole day to savour them, this quick and easy recipe of idli will become your favourite go-to dish. You only need a handful of ingredients to put together this dish unlike the traditional preparation of idli. So, without further ado, here’s the recipe for poha idli.
Ingredients:
- 2 cup flattened rice (poha)
- 3 cup rice semolina (rava)
- 2 cup curd
- 1 tsp baking soda
- Salt as required
- 3 cup water or as required
Preparations:
1. In a blender add poha and blend it to fine powder. Transfer the mix to a bowl and add curd into it, and mix them well.
2. Now add the rava with salt and 1 ½ cup water to the mixture. Whisk the concoction coarsely until everything is well combined.
3. Cover it with a muslin cloth or lid so that the poha absorbs the water nicely. Let it sit for at least 20-30 minutes.
4. After that whisk it again and add the remaining water to give it a nice smooth consistency. When you begin to steam the idli, add the baking soda and mix the concoction one last time.
5. Pour the prepared batter into the idli steamer and let it cook for 15 minutes or until the idli is cooked well.
Your instant poha idli is ready to be devoured. Enjoy it with chutney or piping hot sambar.
