The American business magnate and philanthropist, Bill Gates, went viral on the internet recently when a video of him donning the chef’s hat surprised netizens, especially Indians across the world. In a video shared by popular blogger Eitan Bernath, the Microsoft co-founder is seen cooking roti from scratch in a true desi style. In the minute-long clip, we could see Bill Gates mixing the dough for roti with wheat flour, water, and salt. For the mixing part, Gates used a spatula instead of traditionally kneading it with his hands. Once the dough was ready, the duo started rolling it out in the form of rotis. While the blogger explained to him that the roti should be circular, Bill's roti came out to be slightly closer to an oval shape!
The duo then went on to roast it on a tawa, slathering it with ghee, and enjoy the home-style Indian rotis. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Take a look at the video the blogger shared on Twitter, where it has already received over 197k views:
"Bill Gates and I had a blast making Indian roti together," wrote the blogger in the post. "I just got back from Bihar, India, where I met wheat farmers whose yields have increased thanks to new early sowing technologies and women from "Didi Ki Rasoi" canteens who shared their expertise in making Roti," the blogger wrote in the caption.
Gates said that it has been a long time since he cooked with actual ingredients like this and that he would only heat up soup on a regular basis. "Is it chef Bill approved?" the blogger asked after tasting the roti, to which he replied, "Very much!"
Indian foodies were pleasantly surprised to see the businessman-philanthropist attempt to make Indian rotis. Many people hilariously reacted in the comments section of the video. "Me when I attempt to make roti at home," said one user, while another wrote, "What started as Indian roti, ended as pizza only. Come on Bill. Some dal and cottage cheese (paneer sabzi) will create magic!"

Eitan Bernath, the blogger, recently visited India and learned how to roll out rotis at a Gurudwara in Delhi. This video went viral too, garnering appreciation from internet users for his attempt.
