Bhai Dooj 2021: Indulgent Desserts For 5 Types Of Siblings

Wait, hold up. You are not planning to finish the entire dabba of Kaju Katli on Diwali itself, are you? We agree it is the season to indulge, but pace out, maybe? After all, it is not one or two but five festivals that we are gearing up for. The string of festivals starting from Dhanteras, Narak Chaturdashi leading up to Diwali would be followed by Govardhan Puja and finally conclude with Bhai Dooj. This year, Bhai Dooj would be celebrated on 6th November 2021, two days after Diwali, which falls on 4th November this year. Bhai Dooj, like Rakhi, is a festival dedicated to brothers and sisters. However, unlike Rakhi, sisters do not usually tie a thread around the wrist of their brothers. Instead, they apply a teeka or a vermillion mark on their forehead and pray for their well-being. The siblings then feast over some sweets, and after exchanging gifts, it is time for treating again.

Since sweets play such an integral part in the festivities, we handpicked five kinds of desserts for five types of siblings we are all too aware of.

1. Oats, Dry Fruits Ladoo For The ‘Responsible’ Sibling

Ideal for the sibling who is always the idol, shows up at every family gathering, has topped every exam they sat for, is pretty much your parent’s favourite child and is an adorable sibling to you too when needed. You don’t want to mess with their diet plans, do you? So help them detox post-Diwali with this incredibly energising and healthy ladoo, made with the goodness of dry fruits, oats and chia seeds. They are effortless to make too.

2. Rainbow Cupcakes For The ‘Seize The Day’ Sibling

Most colourful dessert for the sibling that has never failed to add colours to your life with their spontaneous and 'risky' sounding plans. Soft and spongy cupcakes with bright frosting, these pretty looking cupcakes are a perfect tribute to their joie d’ vivre.

3. Jalebi and Rabri For The ‘Partner In Crime’ Sibling

Just how hot and crispy Jalebis seem incomplete without a spoonful of thick, sweet rabri, you are incomplete without your sibling who stands with you when both of are knee-deep in trouble.

4. Double Chocolate Mint Cookie For The ‘Tatler’ Sibling

Oh, how they love to snitch on you? Make them this chocolatey bait, and try having them on your side more often. This gooey, double chocolate cookie also comes with a hint of mint. There, we saw you drooling.

5. Chocolate Lava Mug Cake For The ‘Cheer Leader’ Sibling

Whether you flunked the math exam or messed up your lines in a school play, remember who came running to check up on you and make you believe in yourself all over again? This chocolate lava mug cake is nothing short of a warm hug for your siblings, who never stop cheering for you come rain or shine.

Try these lovely recipes and conclude the season of festivals with a bang. Happy Bhai Dooj, everybody.
