Sounds too fantastical, like a fairytale right? But it is certainly true, and all that you have to do is modify the ingredients that you use to make your everyday desserts. The best part is that even after substituting some ingredients with a healthy substitute, these desserts are going to taste equally divine if not more than the regular desserts. Millet is one such healthy ingredient that is not just versatile, but very fibrous and digestive. Here are some delicious desserts that you can try making at home with millets.
* Millet Cake
A millet cake is made by using some millet flour that is ground properly. One can go for finger millet flour or any other variety that is available nearby. Now, for adding sweetness, instead of going for sugar or honey, One can simply use the natural sugar of fruits and dry fruits. Add things like dates, honey, and bananas to add a bit of sweetness to the cake. The millet flour will have to be mixed with all-purpose flour in equal quantities. This is certainly a healthier rendition of the conventional all-purpose flour cake. The best part about this cake is that it takes less time to be cooked and tastes very good.

* Millet Cookies
Millet cookies are made by using millet flour. The appropriate type of millet flour that one can use is finger millet flour or pearl millet flour. To give it the desired texture, one has to use desi ghee along with baking powder and some source of sweetness. For sweetness, one can use jaggery powder instead of refined sugar. Mix all the ingredients properly to make a fine cookie dough. In this mixture, add some cocoa powder and then make small cookies with the help of the dough. Put this inside the microwave for 10 minutes at 200°C to get the most crunchy and appetising cookies. One can also add some chocolate chips if they want.
* Millet Pudding
A millet pudding is made by first taking a flat pan and then heating it. After it has been heated properly, add some dry millet and roast it properly. Now that the millets have been roasted, add some milk to the mixture and let the millets boil. After the millet has been boiled, keep heating the milk on low heat until it starts turning thick. Now in this mixture, add any sweetening agent of your choice. It could be mashed dates or even jaggery powder. The final step is to add a lot of dry fruits. Put this mixture in the refrigerator for some time so that it gets properly set. Before serving it, one can also add some fresh fruits.
* Millet Ladoo
Millet ladoo is a traditional Indian sweet that is made in a lot of houses to increase immunity and protect one's body against seasonal changes. It is made by mixing millet flour with some wheat flour and adding lots of coconut flakes, dry fruits, nutmeg, cardamom, and desi ghee to make a scrumptious ladoo batter. That also gives a divine aroma. For sweetness, one can add a lot of jaggery powder. However, one also has the liberty to experiment with different types of ingredients as per their choice.

* Millet Halwa
A millet halwa is a very popular dessert in Indian cuisine that is a speciality of many hotels. But you will be surprised to know that this difficult-seeming dessert can be easily made at home without much hassle or the use of a variety of ingredients. You have to start making the dessert by first dry roasting the millets in a pan. After the millets have roasted, start adding a little bit of ghee and mix everything. After some time add a little bit of water and any sweetener of choice that may also include dry fruits. Instead of adding water, one can also go for milk if they want.

* Millet Barfi
A millet barfi is a great option for people who love eating barfi but cannot compromise their health. To make this dessert, you have to first roast millet powder in desi ghee. This process has to be done for at least 15 to 20 minutes until the millet starts turning golden brown. Now start adding ingredients like a source of sweetness, milk, grated coconut, and some dry fruits. All of this has to be cooked until the milk becomes very thick in consistency. The mixture now has to be cooled down and then spread on a flat greased plate. After keeping it like that for at least half an hour, start cutting it into small square pieces.
