  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 Bay Leaf
  • 1/2 Dry Red Chilies
  • 1/4 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/4 Onion, Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1/4 teaspoon Panch Phoron
  • as needed Fresh Coriander Leaves For Garnish

Directions: Yam Curry In Bengali Style/ool Dalna Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Peel and cut the yam into small cubes. Soak them in water to prevent discoloration.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, bay leaf, and dry red chili. Fry until fragrant.
  • STEP 3.Add ginger-garlic paste and saut茅 until golden brown. Then, add chopped onions and cook until translucent.
  • STEP 4.Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 5.Add the yam cubes and cook for a few minutes. Then, add water and cover the pan. Cook until the yam is tender.
  • STEP 6.In a separate pan, heat ghee and add panch phoron. Fry until aromatic.
  • STEP 7.Add the fried panch phoron to the yam curry and mix well. Cook for a few more minutes.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
