Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak dried peas in water overnight. Drain the water and set aside.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions and saute until they turn golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for a minute.
  • STEP 5.Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
  • STEP 6.Add soaked peas, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 7.Add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the peas are tender.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
