  • STEP 1.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and urad dal for tempering.
  • STEP 2.Once the mustard seeds start to splutter, add curry leaves, onions, and green chilies.
  • STEP 3.Sauté until the onions are translucent and slightly golden.
  • STEP 4.Add grated cucumber to the pan and cook until it softens.
  • STEP 5.Add grated coconut, turmeric powder, and salt to the pan and mix well.
  • STEP 6.Cook for a few more minutes until all the flavors are well combined.
  • STEP 7.Serve the vellarikka thoran hot with rice or roti.

  • Squeeze out excess water from the grated cucumber before cooking.
