  • 1/2 Carrot, Diced
  • 1/4 cup Green Peas
  • 1/2 Potato, Diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1 cup Water

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, and bay leaf.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and sauté until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped vegetables like carrots, peas, potatoes, and cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 5.Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 6.Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Stir gently to coat the rice with the spices.
  • STEP 7.Add water and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pan, and let it cook for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with raita or yogurt.

  • You can add other vegetables like cauliflower, beans, or bell peppers according to your preference.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of saffron soaked in warm milk.
