Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak chana dal for 4-5 hours and grind it into a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Ferment the batter overnight or for 8-10 hours.
  • STEP 3.Add salt, turmeric powder, ginger-green chili paste, and lemon juice to the batter.
  • STEP 4.Grease a steaming plate and pour the batter onto it.
  • STEP 5.Steam the batter for 15-20 minutes or until cooked.
  • STEP 6.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies for tempering.
  • STEP 7.Pour the tempering over the steamed batter.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with lemon juice and fresh coriander leaves.
  • STEP 9.Cut into squares or diamond shapes and serve hot.
