A popular Sri Lankan snack which is very similar to indian vadas made out of ulundhu, onions and curry leaves. Garelu, uddina vade and medu vada are another name for this south indian names of these round disc shaped fritters. These are one of the very popular south Indian dish served for breakfast as a snack. Very commonly prepared in South Indian homes.

Ingredients for Ulundhu Vadai Recipe

  • 0.07 cup Ulundu
  • 0.07 No.s Green chili
  • 0.13 tablespoon finely chopped onions
  • As required A few finely chopped curry leaves
  • As required Salt
  • As required Water
  • As required Oil For Frying

Directions: Ulundhu Vadai Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 wash and soak ulundhu for 4-5 hours and grind it in a blender with green chilli using a little bit of water to make a thick paste.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 take this paste out in a bowl and then add chopped onions, salt and curry leaves to it.

step 3

  • STEP 1.3 heat some oil in a pan and drop the batter in oil and fry it till it turns golden brown and your ulundhu vadai is ready to be served
