Ingredients for Tuvar Dal Tadka Recipe

  • 50 g Tuvar dal
  • 3/4 As Required bowls of water
  • 0.13 tsp Turmeric powder
  • As Required salt as per taste
  • 1/2 Tbsp tb sp pure ghee
  • 0.13 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 0.03 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1/4 Tbsp Finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 g piece ginger grated
  • 1/2 g reen Chilli
  • 1/2 Pieces Tomatoes puree
  • 0.13 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 0.13 tsp Coriander seeds powder
  • 1/4 tsp Butter
  • 0.06 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 Pieces Whole red chilli
  • 0.13 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 Tbsp tb sp chopped coriander leaves

Directions: Tuvar Dal Tadka Recipe

  • STEP 1.1. Wash dal thoroughly in fresh running water 2-3 times and soak for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 2.2. Now transfer it in pressure cooker. Add water, salt and turmeric powder and mix well and place the lid and cook for 5 whistles. Switch off the flame and let pressure releases automatically.
  • STEP 3.2. Heat ghee in a wok. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter add asafoetida and saute for 30 seconds.
  • STEP 4.3. Add chopped onion and grated ginger and saute till onion gets golden brown. Now add tomato puree and chopped green chilli and saute for 1 minute. Add red chilli powder, coriander seeds powder and mix well. Now cook till oil leaves the sides.
  • STEP 5.4. Now pour the dal from pressure cooker on this tadka and give it a boil.
  • STEP 6.5. Now transfer dal in a serving bowl.
  • STEP 7.6. In a separate pan heat butter. Add mustard seeds and when mustard seeds splutter add whole red chilli and garam masala. Transfer this tempering over dal.
  • STEP 8.7 Serve this tuvar dal tadka with rice or chapatti garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
