  • 0.17 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 0.67 tablespoon Ghee

Directions: Tikhat Dal (no Onion) Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the toor dal for 30 minutes. Drain the water and pressure cook the dal with turmeric powder, salt, and water until soft and mushy.
  • STEP 2.In a pan, heat ghee and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add asafoetida, curry leaves, and green chilies.
  • STEP 3.Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Add red chili powder and adjust the consistency by adding water if needed. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 4.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.

  • Soaking the dal helps in faster cooking and better digestion.
  • Adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less red chili powder.
