Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the foxtail millet and lentils for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Pressure cook the soaked millet, lentils, and vegetables with water and turmeric powder.
  • STEP 3.In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and dried red chilies.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and sambar powder. Cook until the onions turn translucent.
  • STEP 5.Add the cooked millet, lentils, and vegetables to the pan. Mix well.
  • STEP 6.Add tamarind pulp, salt, and water. Bring it to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with papad or raita.
