This thin, spiced Indian flat bread is identity of Gujarat. Gujaratis & theplas are made for each other. Basically Gujarati thepla spread it's fame world wide & now they are available out of Gujarat & many non gujarati communities like thpla & cook it. Theplas are made from wheat flour and can be ate in breakfast , lunch or dinner. Theplas tastes best with anything like tea , snacks, curd ,pickle or vegetable.

Ingredients for Thepla Recipe

  • 1/2 Cup wheat flour
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1/2 Tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 Tsp turmeric powder
  • A Pinch Pinch of asafoetida
  • To Taste Salt
  • As Required Oil for cooking

Directions: Thepla Recipe

  • STEP 1.1. Knead medium hard dough by adding all spices in flour.
  • STEP 2.2. Divide dough in equal parts. Roll thin theplas. Use dry flour while rolling.
  • STEP 3.3. Now on a preheated skillet, cook theplas from both sides by adding oil.
  • STEP 4.4. Serve hot with tea , pickle ,curd or vegetable. It tastes best with ghee when it is cold.
