Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, wheat flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, oil, and water.
  • STEP 2.Knead into a soft dough and shape it into cylindrical dumplings.
  • STEP 3.Steam the dumplings for 15-20 minutes until cooked.
  • STEP 4.In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and asafoetida.
  • STEP 5.Add chopped tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste, and spices. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  • STEP 6.Add water and bring the curry to a boil. Simmer for a few minutes.
  • STEP 7.Add the steamed muthia to the curry and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.

  • Make sure to steam the muthia until they are cooked through and soft.
