  • 0.08 cup Rice
  • 1/25 cup Split Black Lentils
  • 0.08 cup Jaggery, Grated
  • as needed Oil For Greasing

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, soak rice and lentils together for 4-5 hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain the water and grind the soaked rice and lentils into a smooth batter.
  • STEP 3.Add jaggery to the batter and mix well.
  • STEP 4.Grease the idli molds with oil and pour the batter into each mold.
  • STEP 5.Steam the idlis for 10-12 minutes or until cooked through.
  • STEP 6.Serve the sweet idlis hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add some grated coconut or cardamom powder to the batter for extra flavor.
  • Make sure the batter is fermented well for soft and fluffy idlis.
  • If you don't have idli molds, you can use small bowls or cups to steam the idlis.

Storage and Serving

  • Store the leftover idlis in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat the idlis in a steamer or microwave before serving.
