A himachali style snack recipe with jaggery and wheat flour.Babru is a famous black gram stuffed kachoris or puris. The black gram or the whole urad dal is soaked overnight and is ground to a course mix, before stuffing it into the kachoris and deep fried in oil. It makes for a delicious weekend breakfast with any Indian sabzi.

Ingredients for Sweet Babru Recipe

  • 230 gram Jaggery
  • 240 milliliter Water
  • 300 gram Wheat flour approx
  • 1.50 teaspoon Instant Yeast
  • 4 teaspoon Fennel seeds
  • 1/4 cup Desiccated coconut
  • 2 tablespoon cooking oil for frying

Directions: Sweet Babru Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Melt the jaggery adding water and heating it, leave it to cool down

step 2

  • STEP 2.Knit the wheat flour with 1.5tsp instant yeast, 4tsp fennel seeds,¼ cup desiccated coconut and the melted jaggery , leave it for 30mins

step 3

  • STEP 3.Heat the oil in a frying pan for frying

step 4

  • STEP 4.Make small ball of the knitted wheat flour and make them flat with a roller

step 5

  • STEP 5.Deep fry them one by one, they will be fluffy

step 6

  • STEP 6.Serve them hot as snacks with tea
