It is native to the Mediterranian and Southwestern & Western Eurasia. The herb is known for its distinct flavour and intense fragrance. It is widely popular in Italian, Greek and Mediterranean cooking.

Ingredients for Spicy Oregano Curry Recipe

  • 15 No.s Shallots
  • 5 No.s Oregano/karpooravalli leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 2 No.s Tomatoes
  • As required Few curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard seeds
  • 1.50 tablespoon Coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Gram dal
  • 1 tablespoon Black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • 1-0 tablespoon Urad dal .5
  • 5 Dried red chilli
  • 1/4 tablespoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Asafoetida powder
  • 1 Tamarind lemon size
  • 1/4 tablespoon White salt
  • 1 tablespoon Rock salt
  • 1 tablespoon Jaggery powder
  • 1 glass Water

Directions: Spicy Oregano Curry Recipe

  • STEP 1.Make 1 glass tamarind water

  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a cooking pot.

  • STEP 3.Add coriander seeds,mix,and add gram dal,black peppercorns,cumin seeds and mix.

  • STEP 4.Then add urad dal,dried red chilli.

step 5

  • STEP 5.Add oregano seeds and saute for 3 mins.

  • STEP 6.Now grind the fried stuff and make a paste adding little water to it.
  • STEP 7.Heat 4 tsp oil in a cooking pan. add-mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds , urad dal, curry leaves. .
  • STEP 8.Now add shallots and mix. Add asafoetida powder 1/4 tsp rock salt and cook for 3 mins. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook for 2 mins.
  • STEP 9.Add turmeric powder , tamarind water and 1 tsp rock salt. Then add grinded paste and one glass of water. Now cook it on medium flame for 7 mins. Add jaggery powder and cook for a minute.
