Ingredients for Spicy Honey Chicken Recipe

  • 8 Chicken drumsticks with skin Nos
  • 2 tablespoon Clear honey
  • 1 Spring onion finely chopped Nos
  • 4 Garlic finely chopped cloves
  • 1/2 Ginger finely chopped cm
  • 1 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorns
  • 7 Dried chillies Nos
  • 2 tablespoon Dark soy sauce
  • As required Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Oil

Directions: Spicy Honey Chicken Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 chop off the knuckles of 8 drumsticks and then cut them into 2 equal pieces each. Keep aside.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 in a wok heat 2 tbsp oil and add 1 tsp sichuan peppercorns, 7 dried chillies and stir fry for a few seconds.

  • STEP 3.3 add 4 finely chopped cloves of garlic, ½ cm finely chopped ginger and 1 finely chopped spring onion and fry for a few seconds till aromatic.

  • STEP 4.4 then add the chopped chicken drumsticks, mix together and fry for 5 minutes.

  • STEP 5.5 fry until the meat loses its raw colour and turns white.

step 6

  • STEP 6.6 next add 2 tbsp dark soy sauce and stir well to ensure that the chicken is evenly coated by the soy sauce.

  • STEP 7.7 fry for 1 minutes and then cover the wok.

step 8

  • STEP 8.8 turn the heat to low and cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Stir regularly.

  • STEP 9.9 once the meat is tender, turn the heat to high and add 100 ml clear honey and salt to taste.

step 10

  • STEP 10.10 stir fry for a minute on high heat. Turn off the heat.

step 11

  • STEP 11.11 serve hot garnished with chopped spring onion.
