  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Sambar Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Tamarind Pulp
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1 tablespoon Oil

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Pressure cook the toor dal until soft and mushy.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and fenugreek seeds.
  • STEP 3.Add onions, curry leaves, and green chilies. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, and sambar powder. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  • STEP 5.Add the cooked dal, spinach, tamarind pulp, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or idli.

  • You can add vegetables like carrots, drumsticks, or brinjal for extra flavor and nutrition.
