A tasty coconut chutney made with flavour of almonds,roasted chana dal and curry leaves. And is tempered with mustard seeds, white urad dal and dry red chillies.
Ingredients for South Indian Coconut Chutney Recipe
As required Ingredients for chutney
1 cup Grated coconut
1 tablespoon Roasted chana dal
6 No.s Almonds
2 No.s Green chillies
10 No.s Curry leaves
1 inch Ginger chopped
As required Ingredients for Tempering
1 teaspoon Oil
1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
1 teaspoon Split white urad dal
2 No.s Dry red chillies
Directions: South Indian Coconut Chutney Recipe
step 1
STEP 1.In the grinding jar of the mixer grinder, add 1 cup freshly grated coconut, 1 tbsp roasted chana dal, 5 to6 almonds, 1 sprig curry leaves, 2 green chillies, 1 inch ginger chopped and ¼ cup warm water for grinding. Grind to get a smooth paste. Transfer to a serving bowl. Add salt to taste and mix well.

STEP 1.To make the tempering, in a preheated pan add 1 tsp oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp split white urad dal and 2 dry red chillies. Allow the mustard to crackle and the dal to turn golden. Add 1 sprig torn curry leaves. Mix well. Turn off the heat.

STEP 1.Pour the tempering over the coconut chutney and mix.

STEP 1.Serve with idli and dosa.
