Smoked Chicken Tikka Recipe

Recipe By Slurrp

Smoked Chicken Tikka is a popular Indian appetizer made with marinated chicken pieces that are grilled to perfection. The chicken is first marinated in a mixture of yogurt, spices, and lemon juice, which helps to tenderize the meat and infuse it with flavor. The marinated chicken is then smoked using a charcoal grill or a smoker, giving it a delicious smoky flavor. This dish is perfect for parties or as a starter for a meal.

Directions: Smoked Chicken Tikka Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, mix together yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt.
  • STEP 2.Add chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  • STEP 3.Preheat a charcoal grill or smoker. Place the marinated chicken pieces on skewers and grill them over medium heat until cooked through and slightly charred.
  • STEP 4.Serve the smoked chicken tikka hot with mint chutney and lemon wedges.
  • STEP 5.Cooking Tips: You can also use a gas grill or oven to cook the chicken tikka if you don't have a charcoal grill or smoker. If using a gas grill, preheat it to medium-high heat and cook the chicken for about 10-12 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to use boneless chicken pieces for easy grilling.
  • Soak the wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before using to prevent them from burning.
  • You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less red chili powder.
  • For a smokier flavor, you can add a small piece of charcoal to the grill and heat it until red hot. Place the hot charcoal in a small bowl and place it in the center of the chicken tikka. Drizzle some oil over the charcoal and cover the grill for a few minutes to infuse the smoky flavor.

Storage and Serving

  • Leftover smoked chicken tikka can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, place the chicken tikka in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
  • Serve the smoked chicken tikka as an appetizer with mint chutney, sliced onions, and lemon wedges.
