Ingredients for Sichuan Spicy Chicken Hot Pot Recipe

  • 700 gram Chickenchop the chicken with bone in, into bite size chunks
  • 1 piece Green bell pepper cut into bite size
  • 1 Nos Red bell pepper cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 Nos Spring onions sliced
  • 1 Ginger thinly sliced cm
  • 1 Nos Star anise
  • 1 Nos Cinnamon stick
  • 3 Nos Bay leaves
  • 5 Nos Dried red chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Red peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon White pepper powder
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking wine
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato puree
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • As required Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Oil

Directions: Sichuan Spicy Chicken Hot Pot Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a saucepan fill 2 ltrs water and bring to a boil.
  • STEP 2.To this add 2 tbsp rice wine and 700 gm chicken chopped into bite size chunks and boil for 2 minutes.
  • STEP 1.Then remove the chicken and drain.
  • STEP 3.In a wok heat 2 tbsp oil, add 1 star anise ,3 bay leaf, 1 stick of cinnamon, 2 sliced spring onions, 1 cm thinly sliced ginger, 5 to 8 chopped dried red chillies and stir fry for 10 seconds till aromatic.
  • STEP 4.Then add the blanched chicken pieces to the wok and stir fry for 3 minutes.
  • STEP 5.Add 2 tbsp dark soy sauce , 2 tbsp sugar and stir fry for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Add 500 ml boiled water. Ensure that the water level is just covering the chicken pieces.
  • STEP 7.Bring to a boil and add 2 tbsp tomato puree and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Stir well.
  • STEP 8.Cover the wok, turn the heat to low and cook for 20 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Add 1 green and 1 red bell pepper cut into bite size pieces, 1 tbsp white pepper powder add salt to taste.
  • STEP 1.Stir together well.
  • STEP 10.Transfer to a dish and serve hot.
