A Burmese dessert of cake made from semolina (sooji/ rava) and coconut milk, topped with raisins and poppy seeds.suji cake or sooji cake with detailed photo and video recipe. basically a spongy & sweet cake recipe prepared from rava or semolina with curd and milk. it has a strong similarities to basbousa, an native egyptian and traditional middle eastern sweet cake which is mainly prepared from sooji and dry fruits.

Ingredients for Semolina Cake Recipe

  • 2 cup Semolina
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 cup Half and Half Milk
  • 1 cup Sweet rice flour
  • 4 Eggs Nos
  • 2 can Coconut milk
  • 1/2 stick Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoon Poppy seeds
  • 1/4 cup Raisins

Directions: Semolina Cake Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 put a saucepan on medium heat, add 2 cups semolina, 1 cup sweet rice flour, 1 cup brown sugar and mix.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 stir in 2 cans of coconut milk (900ml), 1 cup of half and half milk and ½ stick butter. Mix well till butter is completely melted.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 finally crack in 4 eggs and mix well to incorporate all ingredients. Keep mixing till mixture thickens.

step 4

  • STEP 4.4 preheat a baking pan in the oven at 375 degrees f.

step 5

  • STEP 5.5 pour the mixture into the pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle ¼ cup raisins and 2 tbsp poppy seeds over the top.

step 6

  • STEP 6.6 bake at 375 degrees f for 45 minutes.

step 7

  • STEP 7.7 it is ready, when a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
