Winter special πŸ˜‹ A popular and healthy green coloured gravy recipe made with boiled & mashed mustard leaves and spinach leaves. a popular punjabi gravy mainly served with makki ki roti. the texture and appearance is very similar to palak gravy or palak paneer but has a unique taste and flavour of mustard leaves.

Ingredients for Sarson ka sag πŸ˜‹ Recipe

  • 1/4 A Bunch 1 bunch mustard leaves/sarson ka patte
  • 1/2 As Required β–’2 clove g
  • 1/4 inch β–’1 inch ging
  • 1/2 As Required 1/4onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup β–’1 cup
  • 1/2 tbsp β–’2 tbsp
  • 1/2 tbsp β–’2 tbsp g
  • A Pinch β–’pinch hing
  • 1/2 g β–’2 clove g
  • 1/4 inch β–’1 inch ging
  • 1/4 As Required Chilli 1 πŸ˜‹ slit
  • 1/4 As Required For Ganishing Onion 1 finely chopped

Directions: Sarson Ka Sag πŸ˜‹ Recipe

  • STEP 1.firstly, wash and finely chop 1 bunch mustard leaves (sarson ke patte) and Β½ bunch spinach (palak). also add bathua leaves if available.
  • STEP 2.take the chopped leaves in pressure cooker along with 2 clove garlic, 1 inch ginger, ΒΌ onion, 2 chilli and Β½ tsp salt.
  • STEP 3.add 1 cup water and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
  • STEP 4.mash until coarsely ground.
  • STEP 5.further add 2 tbsp of makki ka atta and mix well.
  • STEP 6.cook for 5 minutes or until the mixture thickens. keep aside.
  • STEP 7.now in a large kadai, heat 2 tbsp ghee, and saute 2 clove garlic, 1 inch ginger and 1 green chilli.
  • STEP 8.further saute 1 onion until it turns golden brown.
  • STEP 9.add in cooked and mashed leaves and mix well.
  • STEP 10.continue to cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the saag is cooked completely.
  • STEP 11.finally, enjoy sarso ka saag with makki ki roti or with chapati.
