Ingredients for Sarson ka Saag Makki ki Roti Recipe

  • As required bunches of mustard leaves (sarson leaves)
  • 0.33 nos bunch of spinach (palak)
  • 0.33 inch Of Ginger Grated
  • 0-0.33 nos cloves of garlic crushed
  • 0.67 nos medium sized Onion finely chopped
  • 0-0.33 nos green chilies
  • 0.33 nos Pinch of asafoetida
  • 0.17 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 0.33 tsp coriander powder
  • 0.33 tsp garam masala
  • 0.33 tsp red chili powder
  • 0.67 tbsp maize flour (makki ka atta)
  • 0.67 tbsp Ghee
  • As required salt to taste
  • As required For Makki ki Roti:
  • 0.67 cups of maize flour (makki ki atta)
  • 0.33 tsp of ajwain (optional)
  • As required Hot water
  • As required salt to taste

Directions: Sarson Ka Saag Makki Ki Roti Recipe

  • STEP 1.For sarson ka saag:
  • STEP 2.1. Wash mustard & spinach leaves, remove leaves from stems.
  • STEP 3.2. Pressure cook mustard & spincah leaves up to 5-6 whistle with a little salt.
  • STEP 4.3. Mash it with a potato masher or use hand blender. But make sure not to puree
  • STEP 5.the mixture. The roughness of leaves & stalks should be there.
  • STEP 6.4. Add maize flour to mustard, spinach mixture & mix well.
  • STEP 7.5. Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, wait till it crackles, now add asafoetida (hing).
  • STEP 8.6. Thereafter add ginger, garlic, stir for few seconds.
  • STEP 9.7. Add chopped onions & cook till they become a little translucent, add green
  • STEP 10.chili & stir for some time.
  • STEP 11.8. Now add red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala & stir.
  • STEP 12.9. Mix mustard & spinach mixture to this, salt & cook for 8-10 mins on low flame.
  • STEP 13.add water if required.
  • STEP 14.10. Garnish with a dollop of butter, sarson ka saag is ready.
  • STEP 15.For makki ki roti:
  • STEP 16.1. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  • STEP 17.2. Make a soft dough with hot water, knead for a few minutes.
  • STEP 18.3. Divide dough into equal-sized balls. Lightly flour a rolling surface & roll each
  • STEP 19.ball into a circle approx 5" in diameter (1/4" thick)
  • STEP 20.4. Now heat tava/griddle & place roti very carefully on it.
  • STEP 21.5. Flip & cook from other side till you see red-brown marks & get that distinct aroma.
  • STEP 22.6. Serve hot makki ki roti glazed with butter on top & piping hot sarson ka saag.
