Directions: Sambar Bhath With Barley Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak barley in water for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and vegetables of your choice. Cook until they soften.
  • STEP 4.Add sambar powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 5.Drain the soaked barley and add it to the pressure cooker along with cooked lentils.
  • STEP 6.Add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the barley is cooked.
  • STEP 7.Serve hot with a dollop of ghee, yogurt, or pickle.
