Ingredients for Sabudana Kichdi Recipe

  • 1 cup Sabudana
  • 2 No.s Poratoes boiled and cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 4-5 No.s Curry leaves chopped
  • 2 No.s Green chillies chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1 Juice of lemon
  • 1/4 cup Roasted peanuts roughly pounded
  • bunch Small coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • As required Salt

Directions: Sabudana Kichdi Recipe

  • STEP 1.Soak 1 cup sabudana for 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Drain out all the water. Keep aside
  • STEP 2.Preheat a wok add 1 tbsp oil, ½ tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp cumin seeds and allow to crackle. Add 1 chopped onion, 2 chopped green chillies. These are optional. Add 1 inch grated ginger, 4 to 5 chopped curry leaves. Saute and stir together till onions are soft and slightly tender.
  • STEP 3.Add 2 boiled, peeled and cubed potatoes. Toss together with the onions for 1 to 2 minutes till they get well coated with the cumin and mustard.
  • STEP 4.Then turn the heat to low and add ½ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp cumin powder, salt and the soaked and drained sabudana. Mix well till the sabudana is well coated. Do not let it stick to the bottom of the pan.
  • STEP 5.Sprinkle a few tsp of water and cover the pan. Cook on low for about 10 minutes, stirring intermittently.
  • STEP 6.Once the sabudana khichdi is cooked, add ¼ cup roasted peanuts which have been roughly pounded, juice of 1 lemon and chopped coriander leaves.
