Sabudana khichri is an Indian dish made from soaked sabudana (tapioca pearls).[1] It is typically prepared in Indian states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. In major towns like Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur and Nagpur, it is available as street food and is widely eaten throughout the year. It is the dish of choice when an individual observes a "fast" during Shivratri, Navratri, or a similar Hindu religious occasion. Sabudana khichri is one of the most popular comfort foods in India.

Ingredients for Sabudana Khichdi Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Sago
  • 0.33 cup Peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 Green chilli
  • 10-12 Curry leaves
  • 1 Potato
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Tomato
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • As required Rock salt
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee
  • As required Coriander leaves

Directions: Sabudana Khichdi Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Rinse the amylum pearls totally and soak them in ½ cup water for five to six hours or nightlong. Dry them fully.

  • STEP 2.Peel the cooked potatoes.

step 3

  • STEP 3.Chop the potatoes into tiny chunks.

  • STEP 4.For making khichdi, heat some clarified butter in a very non stick pan or cooking pan. Once the clarified butter is justly hot, add cumin seeds to that. Let the seeds crackle.

  • STEP 5.Then add turmeric powder, finely shredded inexperienced chilly, coarsely ground black peppercorns, cooked peanuts to that and saute for a short while.

  • STEP 6.Add finely shredded potatoes. Combine everything rather well.

  • STEP 7.Now combine amylum pearls and sendha salt to that and stir well till everything mixes along.

  • STEP 8.Cover the khichdi and let it cook for two to three minutes on low flame.

  • STEP 9.Check the khichdi after two minutes. Stir well.

step 10

  • STEP 10.Let it cook for two more minutes. Stir the khichdi once more rather well. Call it once more and continue changing the state of the amylum pearls till they get clear. With seven to eight minutes khichdi gets prepared.

  • STEP 11.Now combine some inexperienced coriander and juice and blend everything well.

step 12

  • STEP 12.Transfer the khichdi to a plate. Sabudana khichdi is currently prepared.

step 13

  • STEP 13.Garnish with some inexperienced coriander and serve this mouth drooling and toothsome sabudana khichdi steaming hot and enjoy!
