Ingredients for Rajma Rice Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Kidney beans (Rajma)
  • 1.50 cups water (for soaking and boiling)
  • 1 tablespoons oil or ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 nos large onion
  • As required finely chopped
  • 1 nos large tomatoes
  • As required finely chopped or pureed
  • 1/2 nos tspn grated ginger
  • 1 nos green chilies
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • As required salt to taste
  • As required chopped coriander (for garnish)
  • 1/2 cup basmati rice

Directions: Rajma Rice Recipe

  • STEP 1.Soak the kidney beans in water overnight or for at least 8 hours.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, add the beans and 3 cups of water. Cook for 20-25 minutes or until the beans are soft.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • STEP 4.Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.Add the grated ginger, and slit green chilies.
  • STEP 5.Add pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil starts to separate from the masala and add all spices
  • STEP 6.Add the cooked kidney beans along with their cooking water to the masala.
  • STEP 7.Add salt and let the curry simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
  • STEP 8.Add garam masala and Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.
  • STEP 9.boil rice in 3 cup and water and cook for around 15 min in a pan . Strain the extra water.
  • STEP 10.Serve hot with steamed rice, jeera rice
