The Ragi Rava Idli Recipe is a healthy preparation of the traditional Rava Idli that is made from Ragi Flour and Suji(semolina). In this Ragi Rava Idli recipe, ragi flour, also known as the finger millet flour is combined along with semolina (rava) and spiced it up with green chillies, mustard, and curry leaves. It's a super simple Rava Idli Recipe that makes a great Indian diabetic breakfast and a high protein breakfast as well.

Ingredients for Ragi Rava Idli (Millet Recipe) Recipe

  • As required For Ragi Idli
  • 1/4 cup Ragi Flour (Finger Millet)
  • 1.50 cup /Suji (Semolina/ Rava)
  • 1/4 cup Curd (Dahi / Yogurt)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Eno Fruit Salt/baking soda
  • As required Seasoning for ildi
  • 1/4 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds (rai)
  • 0-1/2 nos green chilli chopped
  • 0-1 nos Curry leaves
  • As required finely chopped

Directions: Ragi Rava Idli (Millet Recipe)

  • STEP 1.To begin making the Ragi Rava Idli Recipe, into a mixing bowl, combine the ragi flour, suji, curd, into a large mixing bowl.

  • STEP 2.Add a little water at a time to make a thick batter (approximately 1/2 cups). Allow the mixture to rest for 15 -20 minutes.
  • STEP 3.The mixture will thicken as it rests.
  • STEP 4.While it is resting, make the tadka. Add oil into a preheated pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds allow it to crackle .
  • STEP 5.add the chopped curry leaves, and green chillies and saute for a few seconds and turn off the heat. Allow the seasoning to cool.
  • STEP 6.Then add salt to the Idli batter and pour some warer into it and mix it well.
  • STEP 7.Add the tempering to the batter and mix it well.
  • STEP 8.Lastly add the eno fruit salt and 1 tablespoon water and mix it gently.
  • STEP 9.Grease the microwave save idli mould with a little oil.
  • STEP 10.Pour one to two spoon of ragi idli batter into the moulds.
  • STEP 11.Place this Idli mould inside a microwave save idli box, filled with some water .
  • STEP 12.On high power ,steam it for about 5-6 minutes or until done.
  • STEP 13.When the idli is fully steamed, remove from the oven.
  • STEP 14.Insert a knife in the idli, when it comes out clean it is done.
  • STEP 15.Allow the idli to rest for 1-2 minutes before removing it from the mould.
  • STEP 16.Serve the Ragi Rava Idli with Coconut-Peanut Chutney .
