  • 1/2 cup Split Pigeon Peas
  • 1 cup Radishes, Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Dried Red Chilies
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 Onion, Chopped

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the split pigeon peas for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, add the soaked pigeon peas, chopped radishes, turmeric powder, salt, and water.
  • STEP 3.Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the lentils are cooked and radishes are tender.
  • STEP 4.In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chili, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 5.Once the seeds start to splutter, add chopped onions and saut茅 until golden brown.
  • STEP 6.Add the cooked lentils and radishes to the pan and mix well.
  • STEP 7.Simmer for a few minutes until the flavors blend together.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.

Cooking Tips

  • You can adjust the consistency of the dal by adding more or less water.
  • For added flavor, you can also add ginger-garlic paste while saut茅ing the onions.
  • If you don't have a pressure cooker, you can cook the lentils and radishes in a regular pot, but it will take longer.
