STEP 1.Press the menu option, keep pressing the plus button till you reach p-15 (saute mode). Allow the pan to preheat for about 4 minutes.
STEP 2.Into the pressure cooker, add 1 tbsp ghee, 1 finely chopped onion, 3 slit green chillies, 6 cloves of chopped garlic, 1 inch of chopped ginger. Saute till the onions are soft and golden.
STEP 3.Then add 1 chopped tomato, ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp red chilly powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp garam masala powder,and stir till the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
STEP 4.Add 1 cup of washed and soaked toor dal and salt to taste. Add 2 cups of water, salt to taste and stir well to combine.
STEP 5.Cover the pressure cooker and turn the nozzle to pressure mode. To change mode, press keep warm then menu. Press the plus button till you reach P-4 (Dal mode).
STEP 6.Once done, the electric cooker will go into “OH” mode (indicating that cooking is complete).
STEP 7.Allow pressure to release naturally until the red nozzle goes down.
STEP 8.Open the cooker and squeeze juice of 1 lime.Stir in chopped coriander leaves.
STEP 9.For the tadka (tempering), heat a pan and add 1 tbsp ghee, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 inch cinnamon and 4 cloves of garlic thinly sliced. Saute until the garlic is golden. Then add ¼ tsp red chilli powder.
STEP 10.Transfer the dal to a serving bowl and pour the tadka over the top of the dal. Serve hot with rice.
