This dish is authentic bengali food. Its my husband 's favorite dish. Sometime he also try his hand to make it. Its very common dish most Bengali household made this. We loved to have it in evey week .
STEP 1.First clean all pranw thice or thrice and remove the black part from it. Now mix salt and turmeric on it .Leave it for 10 minutes to absorb.
Make paste of poppy seeds which has been soaked in water overnight or atleast 6 hours.
Soaked black mustard seed ,pinch of salt and turmeric. Again make a paste of it.
While making this paste one can put green chilli .(optional)
STEP 2.Heat a pan and pour mustard oil on it and let it heat. Then fry grated coconut then put poppy seeds into that and fry it till light golden. In this stage put marinated prawns and have a light fry of it Because if prawns are fried too much it become hard.
STEP 3.Then must mustard paste and give a 5 minutes boil in low heat. Afterwards switched off the gas.
STEP 4.At final stage put fresh cream and mix it well. Then put one teaspoon mustard oil and one whole green chilli on top and cover it with lip to enhance the flavor.
STEP 5.Frensh cream is a additional step it my recipe to get creamy texture.Else one can use coconut milk.In that case taste will be exotic too.
STEP 6.Serve it with steamed rice.
