Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • STEP 2.In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  • STEP 3.Stir in garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  • STEP 4.In a separate bowl, mix together ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, and Parmesan cheese.
  • STEP 5.Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange a single layer of lasagna noodles on top.
  • STEP 6.Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce and a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  • STEP 7.Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of mozzarella cheese on top.
  • STEP 8.Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • STEP 9.Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
  • STEP 10.Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
