STEP 1.Peel the potatoes. Take a bowl and mash the boiled potatoes using a fork.
Cooking Directions
STEP 1.Heat 1 ½ tbsp oil in a pan add ½ tsp mustard seed and 1/4tsp urad dal. Let them crackle.
STEP 2.Add chopped curry leaves, finely chopped onion, 1tsp chopped ginger, 3 chopped green chillies and salt to taste. Saute it in medium flame.
STEP 3.Add 1/4tsp turmeric powder, 1/4tsp chilli powder and mix well. Saute it for a while until the raw smell is no more.
STEP 4.Add some water and then add the mashed potatoes. Mix well. Turn off the flame.
STEP 5.Let it cool down.
STEP 6.Make small balls with the mixture.
STEP 7.Take a bowl and add 1cup gram flour, 2tbsp rice flour, salt to taste, a pinch of asafoetida powder and 1/4tsp chilli powder. Mix well. Gradually add some water and mix well to prepare the batter.
STEP 8.Heat oil in a pan. Dip the ball in the batter, so that all sides of the ball are well coated with the batter. Fry the balls in batches. Fry it in medium flame.
STEP 9.When both sides become golden brown take it out of oil.
STEP 10.Potato bonda is ready to be served.
