Ingredients for Plavila Thoran Recipe

  • 35 No.s Tender jackfruit leaves
  • 2 teaspoon Oil
  • 1.50 cup Water
  • 10 No.s Shallots
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • As required Salt
  • 2 No.s Dry red chilli
  • 1 cup Horse gram

Directions: Plavila Thoran Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Soak the horse gram in water for 4 hours.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Into a pressure cooker add 1 cup of soaked and drained horse gram with 1 ½ cup of water.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Add ½ tsp of turmeric powder and a pinch of salt. Cook in the pressure cooker till 3-4 whistles.

  • STEP 1.Remove the leaf from its stem completely and chop into fine pieces.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Steam the leaves for 15 minutes of time in a double steamer laid with a banana leaf on the surface.

  • STEP 1.Crush the dry red chillies and shallots in a mortar.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Pour in 2 tsp of cooking oil into an earthen pot.

  • STEP 1.Add in the crushed chilly garlic paste and ½ cup of grated coconut. Saute till the coconut turns pale brown.

step 9

  • STEP 1.Transfer the steamed leaves to the pot and mix well.

step 10

  • STEP 1.Pour in 2 tbsp of water and add a pinch of salt to taste.

  • STEP 1.Cover and cook for 8 minutes in a medium flame.

step 12

  • STEP 1.Finally add the cooked horse gram and 2 tsp of horse gram stock water.

step 13

  • STEP 1.Cook for another 5 minutes in the pot closed.

step 14

  • STEP 1.Turn off the flame and the healthy dish is ready for serving.
