  • 1/2 cup Semolina
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Urad Dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chana Dal
  • 1/2 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1 Green Chilies, Slit

  • 1 cup Water
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder

Directions: Plain Upma Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Fry until they turn golden brown.
  • STEP 2.Add chopped onions, green chilies, and curry leaves. Saute until the onions become translucent.
  • STEP 3.Add semolina and roast it on low heat until it turns golden brown and gives a nutty aroma.
  • STEP 4.Add water, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix well and cook until the upma thickens and the semolina is cooked.
  • STEP 5.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with coconut chutney or pickle.
